About Minuteman Video Productions
Minuteman Video Productions started in 2007 as an extension to my still railroad photography business. As a railfan I sometimes enjoy just sitting at home and watching trains pass endlessly on the TV. With widescreen TV's I found that most railfan DVD's quickly became distorted because of being stretched, and that the DVD had been created with cameras that were not keeping up with the technology. Plain and simple, there were plenty of OK railfan DVD's out there, but non really geared for the technology that is here and now. I decided that high quality videos in SD and HD should be available to all, using the best in film and editing capacities.
All of my DVD's are filmed with Canon HD cameras with Dolby 2.0 sound, and edited in house using professional video editing and processing software. With all videos being offered in SD 16:9 widescreen, the fact that they are filmed in HD helps to bring out a better picture, and allows for the possibility of a Blu-Ray DVD version easily, with little added cost. Video is edited in MPEG-2, and audio in Dolby Digital .ac3 for a superior product. Files are then encoded for DVD production at 5 megabits per second, yielding a clear, crisp picture. None of the audio is dubbed from sound files like some of the big boys, this is the actual sound from the trains you are seeing.
While shooting video for production some times not everything comes out as well as you planned; clouds, tripod bounce, severe wind. While the video may be great, the sound is not fit for the buying public. But you can still see it...free! Visit the YouTube page to see some of the video that did not make the cut.

Feel free to browse what we have to offer, and what is coming up. If you have any requests as to what you would like to see, please send an email. We may focus on New England railroads, but are always looking for reasons to travel out West!
