Yes I am still shooting footage for the videos. After shooting a bunch of video for the 1st Pan Am and NHN DVD's I was not happy with how the video was coming out. A lot of the issues are because of a learning curve with the Canon HD cameras and getting perfect results. Also as video is new to me, trying to get good pans has something I have been working at. Well now I have more time and the skills and I have been shooting for the NHN video release. Also I shot the Conway Scenic transformer run over the Mountain Division on 06/21. This video, which will be at an introductory price of $5 shows the run down the Notch with the loaded transformer, and the empties run west. The price is only $5 on this video, as the best part, the run down the notch was mostly ruined by PSNH's 2 helicopters that were also filming the event. While the scnery and histoic event is still worth the watch, the DVD has a music backtrack, and has little in the way of train sounds unfortunaely. But hey, whats bad for me is good for you price wise!

Well filming is still going on at this time for both the first Pan Am and NHN videos. Filming had taken the back seat over the summer due to some new prospects, but has resumed again. Much of the footage is being reshot with a wider Canon High Definition lens and better audio. I am confident that these two hardware updates will provide for a better overall quality video. I have picked up 2 wireless stereo mics that are going through testing to bring in better train sound. The mics that were used in the first shots, while producing very good audio, picked it up all to well in very scenic areas such as the forest, or by waterfalls. You want those details in the video, but not too strongly, so the 2 new mics will help balance out the sound.

Filming for the new Pan Am Portland Mainline DVD is going well and I am getting some great video. While gas is approaching $3.20 a gallon, I'm still traveling along the line weekly to get some great shots of the action along the line for the DVD. But not everything goes right, so make sure to check out the YouTube page for all the outakes!
There is still about 28" of snow on the ground here in Northern NH and I am eagerly awaiting spring to arrive. Not only will railfanning be more comfortable, the change of scenery should be good for trains, and activity along the rails. NHN is running about 20 car trains right now, and as soon as this snow goes away and the construction season kicks off, we can start to see some 60+ car trains, perfect for you!
